Hellberg SafetyHub App
Hellberg produces a variety of safety equipment for construction work. For their latest flagship headset, the "Local 2," they wanted to set it apart from the competition by offering an extraordinary user experience with the Hellberg SafetyHub App.
This solution fulfills the need to integrate advanced communication tools while meeting strict safety regulations.
Hellberg required an application for their new Local 2 headset that could simultaneously meet the needs of various users, from individual construction workers to contractors bidding on projects with stringent safety compliance requirements.
Hellberg SafetyHub App enables workers to communicate securely on-site, adhere to legal and safety regulations, and simplify management for contractors overseeing large teams.
At the individual worker level, users can easily manage their headset settings through Hellberg SafetyHub App. However, what sets the app apart is its ability to enforce safety regulations, by activating Safety Mode, which disables non-work-related audio functions like playing music. This feature ensures workers remain compliant while performing critical tasks on-site.
For contractors, the app simplifies group management. It allows team settings to be pushed out and updated remotely, ensuring all workers comply with site-specific safety policies. This system not only enhances operational efficiency but also improves a contractor’s chances of winning bids by demonstrating adherence to safety regulations.
Hellberg SafetyHub App is a cross-platform mobile application that provides seamless integration between the Local 2 headset and its users. Developed using React Native, the app is designed to be platform-agnostic, ensuring a consistent user experience across both iOS and Android devices.
The application is also built with modularity in mind. While tightly connected to the Local 2 headset at launch, the system is structured to accommodate future expansions, including other Hellberg products and communication systems.
Unlike mass-market applications, Hellberg SafetyHub App had to be tested by a niche group of users. To achieve this, we delivered prototypes (both the app and the headset) to construction workers in real-world settings.
Despite the smaller pool of testers, the feedback was invaluable, as it came directly from those who would be relying on the app in the field. This focused approach to testing allowed us to make informed adjustments that significantly improved the user experience in the end.
