Lakrids by Bülow

PIM integration

Lakrids by Bülow is a Danish confectionery company renowned for its innovative and high-quality liquorice products. With a diverse product range and a commitment to excellence.

Founded in 2007 by Johan Bülow, Lakrids by Bülow started as a small, family-owned business with a passion for creating exceptional liquorice products. Johan Bülow's vision was to transform liquorice from a traditional treat into a gourmet indulgence by experimenting with unique flavor combinations and premium ingredients.

Today Lakrids by Bulow is a global leader within production and sales of confectionery.

Challenge

Lakrids by Bülow sought to streamline its product information management (PIM) processes to enhance efficiency and maintain its position as a market leader. With a ambitious growth strategy and a big demand for their products, product information and delivering best in class product experiences became a must for Lakrids By Bulow.   This decision required a thorough understanding of both the technological possibilities and the business needs. In addition to the immediate decision-making challenge, Lakrids By Bulow faced general problems associated with not having a dedicated PIM solution:

  1. Product Data Fragmentation: Lakrids by Bülow encountered challenges in managing product data across multiple channels, leading to inconsistencies and errors.

  2. Time-Consuming Manual Processes: The company relied heavily on manual processes for updating product information, resulting in inefficiencies and delays.

  3. Scalability Concerns: As Lakrids by Bülow expanded its product offerings and entered new markets, managing product data became increasingly complex and time-consuming.

Implementation proces

This decision required a comprehensive understanding of both the technological possibilities and the business needs. In addition to the immediate decision-making challenge, Triumph faced general issues associated with not having a dedicated PIM solution.

Corner Stones in the Implementation:

  1.  Centralized Product Data Repository: InRiver PIM provided Lakrids by Bülow with a centralized repository to store all product information, ensuring consistency and accuracy across channels.

  2. Automated Data Enrichment: The solution enabled automated enrichment of product data, reducing manual efforts and minimizing the risk of errors.

  3. Streamlined Workflow: InRiver PIM facilitated streamlined workflows for product data management, improving collaboration among teams and accelerating time-to-market.

  4. Scalability: With its scalable architecture, InRiver PIM allowed Lakrids by Bülow to adapt to evolving business needs and support future growth seamlessly.

The implementation process in 7 faces

Definering af business objectives & tech objectives: Before this process, we have aligned which parts of the business should be included in the implementation process, ensuring that we deploy the project in the departments of the business that will work most with it and serve as our ambassadors before, during, and after the project launch. It is with this group that we define the business objectives prior to implementation, allowing us to look back and assess if we are on the right track and if the project has been a success.  This is also where we define our technical plan and clarify roles and responsibilities in the project, enabling it to be driven as efficiently as possible.

Process Assessment: During this stage, we identify and evaluate the various work processes existing within the business, including the systems used, the data and information collected, their locations, and which departments handle which types of data. Subsequently, the focus shifts to identifying areas of inefficiency in current processes and determining where optimizations can be made to achieve a more lean workflow.

Definition of Data Model: In this process, we work on defining the data model itself. This involves examining the products, their attributes, categories, product relationships, etc., and leveraging existing information to make the process more intelligent.

Identification of Relevant Data Sources: In this phase, the focus is on defining the data sources we have, identifying their locations, and determining who manages them. This includes finding Excel sheets, Google Sheets, ERP systems, commerce platforms, marketing platforms, etc., to gain a comprehensive overview.

Integration with defined Channels: Here, the goal is to connect the right channels, both for data input and output. This involves integrating the systems to optimize and streamline our data flow, ensuring that we can activate our product information in the desired channels.

Data Enrichment: During this stage, data is fed into the PIM system, and efforts begin to link all our data together and add any missing information.

Internal Enablement and Platform Training: This process is one of the most critical steps in the entire implementation. It is essential to ensure that the individuals involved understand how to work with the solution. It's crucial for them to take ownership so that the processes we've built are executed in day-to-day operations. As with any platform project, this is where things can often go wrong if the right people are not empowered and trained early on.
